Task description:

Teacher assigned groups of  2 students

 1.        Read the eyewitness accounts of the eruption of Mount Vesuvius.

 2.        Study the pictures and video of the site.

 3.        Create a two-page newspaper of the events (front and back) with headlines, pictures and articles covering different aspects of the disaster using MS Office, MS Word, or MS Publisher. Print in grayscale

Include the following articles (min. 100 words each):

a)       an overall coverage with historical data ( picture)(30) both students

b)       geographical accounts of the destruction (map)(30) one student

c)       geological facts about the eruptions (30) one student

d)       reports on victims and destruction (pictures)(30) one student

e)       reports by and on survivors  and eyewitnesses, i.e. interviews, etc.(pictures) (30) one student

 

Time: 21/2 class periods

 Be sure to indicate your sources or lose 10 points!

 Grade:     100 (Test): 30 group article; 60 individual articles, 10 overall appearance
