Tagebuch: Eine Stadttour

Task:

Select a German speaking city and design a tour including about 5 sights indicated on a map.

Write a paragraph in about 100 ( 140 for advanced German) words about your tour.

Steps:

• Select an area from the topic bar on the left
• Choose a major city of the area
• Go to the National Tourist office website and look for the city
• Explore the city sites "Sehenswürdigkeiten"; first in English, then in German to access the German names of the sites. Take notes in German.
• Find a map "Stadtplan" of the "Innenstadt" of your city, following the "Stadtpläne" link.
• Print or copy the map and draw a tour starting either from the Tourist Information "I", or the train station, "Bahnhof" (Bhf. or Hbf).
• Describe the tour using directional expressions you have learned.
• Briefly describe the sites in your own words.
• Advanced: make suggestions about what else to see in the larger area; compare the city to your hometown
